Front peak and sofits completed, more progress on west side siding.  Ceiling in basement sheetrocked.  More sheetrock mudding done inside, too.  Really helped that Wednesday was in the 20's above instead of 20's below!

Monday January 17 - Friday January 21, 2011

Only indoor work since the temperature has been about 10 below on average.  The drywall guy has been taping and mudding all week.  They took a piece or 2 of sheetrock off the wall in the stairwell so that when they deliver the sheetrock for the basement, they can just deliver it right into the basement and not have to turn the corner in the stairwell while hauling 8-12 ft sheets of sheetrock.  Brady pulled coaxial cable in the basement family room.  Sheetrock is delivered for basement walls and ceiling.  No pictures - the house looks about the same as the last post!

More of the siding on the front of the house is done.  It's been so cold and snowy that it's been not good conditions for siding a house.  (it was -18 this morning and yesterday marked the 19th consecutive day of at least a trace of snow)  Sheetrock taping is going great (inside a heated house!)

Sheetrock mess cleaned up and paper laid on all floors.  Scaffolding set up.  Mudding and taping begins.  Had the electrical inspector in (no charge – yay!) and Brady only had to secure one wire.  Got the go-ahead to sheetrock the basement family room.  All 4 of us went to the house – the kids played on the plasma car and scooter and “helped” sweep.  Brady fixed the wire, and I did some sweeping, too.  Kinda fun to hang out in our new house – crazy!

Sheetrock hanging day 2 of 2.  Entire main floor and upstairs sheetrock is completely hung.  Also, sheetrock in the garage is done on walls that are shared with the house and the ceiling.

Brady and his dad wired the downstairs family room for electricity.  They put in several outlets, 8 recessed lights, and pulled a wire for future baseboard heat.  Thanks for the help, Gary! 
Our current house is officially advertised and on the market.

MASSIVE Menards shopping day!  We ordered cabinets for the entire house – kitchen, 2 bathrooms and the laundry/half bath.  Also ordered every interior door in the house – 6 panels for most doors, flush doors for closets inside rooms.  Also bought all the drawer pulls and the kitchen sink.  Met the guy doing the staining.  Picked a stain color.

Day 1 of 2 Drywall hanging.  At the end of the first day of hanging drywall, the entire upstairs and part of the main floor were done.  Looks different to not be able to see between the walls anymore.

Sheetrock is delivered.  Insulation is finished.  More siding work.

Brady and Jason pulled Cat5 internet cable to the living room and to each bedroom.  This was done the night before the sheetrocking started!  That was a last-minute decision, but at least we made the decision to do it before the sheetrock was hung!  Thanks again for your help, Jason!

Insulation started and practically finished in just one day!  Siding the back of the house started.  Measured for doors and talked about how they should swing.

Snow drift in our driveway is HUGE.  I didn't bring the camera or even my phone when Brady and I blazed a trail into the house.  There was 2 inches of snow covering the inside of the 2nd floor.  What a MESS.  Brady and I shoveled the whole 2nd floor down to the main floor.... hope that was at least a little helpful. But snow is still sitting on the top of each board, stuck to the sides of each board, sitting on top of finished electrical boxes and strung wire/cable.  We got the snow off each window.  Oh, and the back garage door was OPEN during the double blizzard so the entire garage has snow all over in there with 5" drifts next to piles of lumber and siding.  Not sure why that wasn't boarded shut - simply woulda been a piece of wood turned over the door 90 degrees and it would have helped keep snow out of there. Bummer.  We should have double-checked that....  Today at 10 am a skid steer is coming out to the lot to remove snow.  No work at the house Monday and Tuesday except for to remove snow.

I'm bummed I didn't get a picture of all the snow INSIDE the house.  But, Wednesday, it looked back to normal.

We are ordering the cabinets at Menards this weekend - on sale plus we'll get in on the 11% rebate Menards is offering to ring in the new year.  SCORE!

Siding - East side done.  Measured for cabinets.  Went to Menards to pick out cabinets. 

Probably some other stuff worked on, but to be honest, I'm not sure what.
